Excursion to the Tretyakov gallery

Lavrushinsky side street of Zamoskvorechye, in the house, which the family of Tretyakov bought in 1851, is the main building of the Tretyakov gallery. With the growth of the collection to the residential part of the mansion was gradually added new facilities required for the storage and display of works of art. Similar additions were made in 1873, 1882, 1885, 1892 and 1902-1904, when there was the famous Vasnetsov the facade, which became the emblem of the Tretyakov gallery. Now a complex of buildings of the Tretyakov gallery, located between Lavrushinsky and small tolmachevskaya lanes – a favorite place not only Muscovites, but also numerous guests.

The gallery presents works of classic Russian art. Works from the gallery's collection are regularly exhibited at international and domestic exhibitions in different cities. Since the mid 1990-ies in the Tretyakov gallery held a serious research work on the preparation and publication of a consolidated catalogue of the collection. It is a scientific and most complete multi-volume publication presenting the whole gallery collection.
